I am surprised that folks you interview talk the right language and then can&amp;#39;t back it up, but I am well aware every industry is quite different. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Personally if the first thing a company wants to do is give me a code test, rather than talk (so both of us can find out if we think it is a fit, culturally), then I stop the process right there. I don&amp;#39;t think I am alone in that. I have interviewed multiple senior candidates who can talk a good game but can&amp;#39;t code there way out of a paper bag.  Giving senior candidates a pass on coding questions is giving yourself a headache later when you have to fire them.
